Venus, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, rules Friday. Do you know where your Venus is in your Astrology chart or Human Design Bodygraph? What Gates are your Venus in?
In the Human Design System, we have a Design/Body/Unconscious Venus and a Personality/Mind/Conscious Venus. This is imprinting that takes place at the time of birth (Personality/Conscious) and approximately 88 days prior to that (Design/Unconscious). When you look at your Bodygraph, you find the activated Gates on the Design side on the left (in red, usually) and the ones on the right are the Personality (in black, usually).
While the majority of our imprinting comes from the Sun, the other planets also provide helpful information.
Gene Keys & The Venus Sequence
The Gene Keys are neither science nor pseudo-science. They are presented as a poetic exploration into consciousness that uses the 64 Codons of DNA as a mystical metaphor for the holographic code underpinning all life. These teachings are a labyrinth, and when you enter them with an open heart and mind, you may move through a deep transformation resulting in a more compassionate view of yourself and others.
Richard Rudd, The Gene Keys Golden Path
As with Human Design, the Gene Keys also work with the 64 I Ching Hexagrams and 64 Gates. Each Gate or Gene Key has three frequency bands – Shadow, Gift, and Siddhi. We find many of these shadows as part of the collective energy at the moment, to the degree that many people feel they are “normal” and even healthy.
There are different ways to work with the Gene Keys, including contemplating all the activated ones in your Bodygraph to raise awareness of the shadow frequencies in order to shift to the other higher states of energy.
We can also work with the three sequences of the Golden Path – the Activation, Venus, and Pearl Sequences. There is a fourth upcoming sequence of Harmony. The heart of this work is the Venus Sequence. You can find your free profile to see what the Gene Keys are for each of these three sequences.
If you are familiar with Human Design, the activated Gene Keys/Gates of the Personality and Design Venus, along with that of our Personality Mars are where we come to understand our behaviour in relationships. We can see here our physical, mental, and emotional patterns and coping strategies we created when young, in response to emotional field and forces in our environment. The Shadow frequencies of these three Gates reflect our core wounds. When we act from these energies, we continue to play out our wounds in our adult relationships and so we remain unfulfilled.

These three Gene Keys represent our Intelligence Quotient (Personality Venus), Emotional Quotient (Personality Mars), and Spiritual Quotient (Design Venus). The Shadows of these three Gene Keys are our physical, emotional, and mental triggers.
The lines of each of these Gates/Gene Keys provide a deeper layer. Contemplating just the Gates/Gene Keys is powerful inner child healing work. For me, it is Line 5 for all three. While they have meaning specific to the different spheres of the Venus Sequence, Line 5 is projection energy. The Saviour/Saved. My Venus is in Pisces and this makes so much sense!
When we raise our level of awareness, it becomes easier to discern our own behaviour and that of others in relationships. Even without knowing Human Design or Gene Keys.
This knowledge we transform into wisdom to better understand ourselves and have greater compassion for others. In this way, we can stop blaming other people and accept that this is just the way we learned to cope as best as we could as a child being conditioned by external forces. On some level, we all believe we are not worthy, this myth, this illusion. So when we unearth the unconscious worldview and programming we have embodied, we can begin to release its grip and reveal who we truly are.
Everything that you have contemplated up to this point has been preparing you for this – this softening and opening of your heart into the sacred wound. When you feel the tenderness of your own heart, you also come to realize that you are never alone. There is vast strength within the folds of this love. It holds up your life. In the words of the great W.B.Yeats, ‘tread softly, because you tread on my dreams’. Herein are the dreams of your heart.

Design Venus
This is where we are imprinted in the first trimester and activated in the first seven-year cycle of life. The Gate gives us information about what our physical trigger. This is our Spiritual Quotient.
Personality Venus
This is where we are imprinted in the third trimester and activated in the third seven-year cycle of life. This is what our mental trigger is and what our mental patterns we created in response to emotional conditioning.
Personality Mars
This is where we are imprinted in the second trimester and activated in the second seven-year cycle of life. This is what our emotional trigger is.
The 22nd Gene Key
At its heart however lies the question of human suffering,and it therefore has a direct relationship to the Venus Sequence. Both are manifestations of the Venus Stream. The more you read and digest the 22nd Gene Key, the more you will settle yourself into the Venus Stream
Richard Rudd, Love – A Guide to Your Venus Sequence
The Siddhi of the 22nd Gene Key is Grace. This is “Grace Under Pressure.” The Grace of the Venus Sequence.
Richard Rudd sees the 22nd Gene Key as the heart of human suffering, and through the realization of the suffering in our own life, we transform in the deepest way. The 22nd Gene Key is the “Truth of Redemption.”
It is “special within the overall matrix of the 64 Gene Keys, containing a highly specific teaching and a powerful transmission. The transmission of this consciousness alone can alter the way in which your DNA operates.” (Richard Rudd, The Gene Keys). All 64 Gene Keys are in some way impacted by the 22nd Gene Key.
It is through the 55th and 22nd Gene Keys that bring evolution and involution. There is an awakening of our genetic imprint and an invocation of spirit in our lives.
Do you have these two Gene Keys in your profile? Even if you don’t, it’s worthwhile to spend some time to read, hear, and contemplate Richard’s transmissions. The 22nd Gene Key is important in relationship work as it is “one of the most powerful emotional Shadow Gene Keys in the human genome. It is highly passionate and sexual with a huge emotional range encompassing extreme highs of sweetness and extreme lows of violence. Because of its situation in the genome it is directly or indirectly responsible for most of the relationship problems on our planet.” (Richard Rudd, The Gene Keys) Working with this Shadow, like all Shadows, is to take responsibility. In this case, for our feelings, rather than subduing them.
Both the 22nd and 55th Gene Keys are of special interest for me, as they are both part of my profile, and my Venus Sequence. Relationships is indeed an important spiritual pathway for me.
