I am a 1/3 Manifesting Generator. This means I have Line 1 for my Personality Sun and Earth Gates and Line 3 for my Design Sun and Earth Gates. Personality is the Mind, the Conscious. Design is the Body, the Not Conscious. In other words, these lines make up my Profile, sort of a costume I wear to play my role in this incarnation.
These are perhaps the most important lines in my design since the Sun emits about 70% of the neutrinos in our part of the universe. Neutrinos, now verified by science, are part of what we know as dark matter. Their infinitesimal mass carries and leaves info as they pass through absolutely everything and everyone. We are imprinted with this information and we also filter them as they pass through us. That’s evolution. That is how everyone participates in the evolution of consciousness. So yes, everyone, with their own uniqueness, is important.
The Lines in Human Design give us important information. They add another layer to each of the 64 Hexagrams that describe aspects of our energy and beingness. We can look at these six lines as parts of a house, with Line 1 being the foundation and Line 6, the roof.
Line 1 The Investigator – they look for and absorb information, which makes them feel secure, that the foundation is strong. They like to figure things out on their own and many become masters because they really dig deep and come to understand a process.
Line 2 The Natural – People see these people as naturals, talented; a projection since they may not be a genius. The thing is they are a hermit and need alone time and space and must be called out. They are selective, though.
Line 3 The Discoverer – This is the role of trial & error, bumping into experiences and seeing what works and what does not. When they quit something, it’s not because they are quitters. It’s just not working. And they are not making mistakes. That’s just how they discover, for themselves and for the collective.
Line 4 – The Opportunist has a lot of influence; however, it is on people they already know. Community, friendships, and relationships are thus important for them. Of course, it’s got to be the right people. And they invest in people with their support and friendship.
Line 5 – The Saviour. Ah the projection field. People with Line 5 are seen as the saviour, the one who has the answers. They may. And again, they may not. So people can get upset if reality does not measure up to their own projections. Their role is universalization, which means distributing and making accessible to the masses.
Line 6 The Perfectionist – These people are perfecting what has been done and the 6/3 will look for the next thing. Their lives are divided into three phases; the first one is akin to that of Line 3, trial and error. Age 30 to 50 is the roof, being an observer and becoming objective again, which draws people to them for advice. When they come off the roof, it’s time for them to be the living example of what does work.
1/3 Profile
As a 1/3 I investigate, gather information, and then experiment. I test the soundness of what I have learned, of the foundation. I enjoy deconstructing and discussing. With an open Head Centre, I am open to many ideas so there is a lot I explore.
I bump into people, things, and encounters – that is the pattern of life for me. Accidental, and not really an accident. It is correct for me and I’ve got resilience for this. Sometimes this is walking into table corners.
I can see my 1/3 at work when I think about how I am approaching Human Design, Gene Keys, Jin Shin Jyutsu, and everything else. I love doing it my own way, reading this or that, observing if it shows up (or not) in my life, and debriefing with my partner who is a Human Design Guide.
I see teachers as a source of many aspects to explore, rather than a well of all-consuming knowledge. I take their word for their own experiences; though, I do question if it’s applicable to others, especially myself.
As I bump into different topics, I will dive into whatever books that I feel drawn to or come into my view. Or I may purchase this or that course to listen to other people discuss about it. If it’s conceptual, I like to break it down. I love reading real-life stories. Hence, I have a vast library of a divergent topics.
So I started this website to share my lab notes and log my experiment and journey. Because of my 1, what I learn is part of the foundation. It’s what others work with. We build a strong structure with a sturdy and true foundation of integrity.
Maybe it’s the 33-13, the Channel of the Prodigal. This channel connects my G Centre (identity, direction, love) to my Throat Centre (sharing, manifesting). I’m pretty sure I’ve lived many times as a Bard before, travelling the realms and then returning with stories and information and keeping the memories alive. It’s also got that “been there, done that, let me tell you about it” energy. So for me, at the end of experiences, especially relationships, I ponder what the lessons are. Sometimes, when I was younger especially, it can take a few go’s until I get it.
Let’s Look at the 2/4
My partner is a 2/4 (Natural/Opportunist). Yes he does also google when he needs to fix stuff, like his truck. I definitely google, read (pretty much) every review, talk to friends, etc to gather information way more than him, who is a natural. I love figuring how something works; him, not so much.
Here’s an example – cooking. Perhaps it’s raising a child as a co-parent and having to put together meals all the time. Anyway, he can definitely throw together breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks very very quickly. I like to google recipes and get the ingredients. Mind you, I’m not always great at following recipes. I may the first time and even then, measuring is sooo restrictive.
He just lets me 1/3 it, with no judgment. Sometimes he still tenses when I approach him, as I have hit him with my elbow or knee. Time to tap into my Gate 22, the Gate of Openness. Grace.
Counting the Lines
I wanted to see what lines are dominant in my design, just out of curiosity. I think this seed was planted from one of Ra’s lectures or quotes. I can’t remember now.

So on the Personality/Mind/Conscious side of my design, I have no Line 3s and a predominance of Line 4. Line 3 is “making and breaking bonds” and with zero Line 3s on my Mind side, perhaps this is why my mind hangs on longer than my Body. Hmmm. For me, though, transparency and honest conversation is important. This is how we can re-make or make a new bond that a new level of our relationship can shift to. Perhaps I do this more from a subconscious level. Probably.
I have 5 Line 4s here. Line 4 is about my network, my friendships, and who I know so does this also make it harder to break away? Because on some conscious level, I know my influence is the greatest on those within my community and community building is what I do. This bridge. I also enjoy writing about people I know, as a way to share their gifts and celebrate who they are.
It’s all food for thought. For contemplation. Lightly turning it over in my mind, rather than making it a thing, more stories, more “stuff” for the Mind to hang on to.
The lesson here, or the reminder, with a preponderance of Line 4s is to befriend people correct for me. This means going back to my sacral response. True for everyone, trusting their Authority, only more so with people with lots of Line 4s.
Counting the lines in my Human Design body graph gives a general idea of the energies at work, beyond my Profile. It will be interesting and fun to investigate (here’s that 1/3!) the Gates and Planets along with the lines. At this time, I’m looking at the elements separately, moving to a more holistic understanding of my design. Piece by piece. 1/3 has the patience to do this over time!
